Nourishment That Opens Doors

Food Bank

In Cambodia’s rural communities, hunger too often stands between a child and their education. Our food banks remove that barrier, ensuring students have the nourishment they need to focus, learn, and thrive.

Each year, more than 220 students and their families receive food support that brings stability. Beyond meals, families are given seeds and training to grow their own gardens, turning short-term relief into long-term self-reliance.

The results are clear: attendance rises, graduation rates climb, and students gain the strength to build brighter futures. Every food bundle is more than a meal, it’s a lifeline, a chance, and a promise that no child should have to learn on an empty stomach.

Born out of the pandemic’s aftermath, the Chreav Food Bank began as an urgent humanitarian response for hundreds of displaced families living on the outskirts of Siem Reap. Many had lost everything, homes, jobs, and stability. Today, it’s a thriving “food for school” program supporting 47 families and ensuring a 100% student retention rate.

Each month, families receive essential staples such as rice, oil, eggs, and dried fish, in exchange for their children’s consistent school attendance. Vegetable seeds and gardening support further strengthen self-sufficiency. This simple model eases the financial strain that often forces children into labour and replaces it with the opportunity to learn and dream.

We are hoping to expand this successful program to 60 more families. Donate here to help.

University Food Bank

Food Bank

For PLF Canada university scholars, the move from rural homes to Phnom Penh is both exciting and financially daunting. Our University Food Bank ensures that no capable student has to turn away from higher education because of hunger or poverty.

Students receive food support that supplements the $70 monthly stipend PLF Canada provides, bridging the gap for families who cannot contribute. This allows scholarships to be awarded on merit and determination, not on economic means, helping young adults stay focused on their studies and complete their degrees with confidence.

Srayang Food Bank

In the remote village of Prey Kuol, secondary education requires moving away from home, an impossible cost for many families. The Srayang Food Bank supports six girls who now live independently near our Srayang Learning Center, providing each with a $30 monthly food bundle.

The result: zero dropouts, stronger focus, and the first-ever Prey Kuol graduate expected next year. It’s a small program with a profound ripple effect, proof that consistent nourishment can rewrite the story of a generation.

Support our mission. Your contribution keeps children in classrooms, families nourished, and communities growing toward a self-sustaining future. Together, we can make sure no student is left behind because of hunger. Be a part of their journey.
