Uniforms & School Supplies: Opening the Door to Education
Every school year begins with something simple yet profound, a uniform, a notebook, a pencil. For many children in rural Cambodia, these small things decide whether they can walk through the school gate at all.
For families surviving on subsistence farming, the $20 that is they must pay for a uniform and school supplies for their child is often impossible. Some parents are forced to make an difficult choice, which one of their children gets to learn. Our Uniforms & Supplies program changes that story in Koh Ker, Romcheck and Prey Kuol. By providing every student with what they need, we help ensure that all the children in those villages can go to school, not just a lucky few.​
Each year, as enrollment opens, our team works closely with village elders, teachers, and administrators to prepare for Opening Day, a celebration where every child receives their new uniform, books, and supplies. It’s more than a distribution; it’s a declaration that every child belongs in school.
